Khreshchatyk is considered to be one of the most interesting streets of the city. It is the central and the most popular street among the citizens and guests in Kiev. From this spot you may easily get to the Independence Square (Maidan Nezalezhnosti) – the main square of the Kyiv city. An interesting fact is that Khreshchatyk is one of the widest but short streets.
Nevertheless, it will not be so easy to get acquainted with all the must-see places on Khreshchatyk – the length of the main street of the country exceeds one kilometer, and new sights await tourists on almost everywhere.
Unwind the clock of modern life. Unlock the door to a wonder of the world.
Another must-see place is St.Andrew’s Descent. There is always a holiday atmosphere on this street. You can find different painting there, you can buy souvenirs, sit in a restaurant of national Ukrainian cuisine – the main thing is to look at the clock, because on time flies fast on the Andrew’s Descent. It is not surprising: in addition to various exhibitions, you can see St. Andrew’s Church, Richard’s Castle and many interesting monuments. The literary memorial museum of M. Bulgakov (house number 13) has the world’s first monument to the writer; on house number 34 you can see a comic monument to the Gogol’s nose. Moreover, there is another monument near the St. Andrew’s Church. It is popular among Kiev residents – a monument to Pronia Prokopovna Sirkova and Svirid Petrovich Golokhvastov, the characters of “Chasing Two Hares”, famous M. Staritsky’s play and comedy movie.
It is one of the most popular parks in Kiev, it is a unique monument of park art of the past. You will see the Mariinsky Palace. The President of Ukraine wishes Happy New Year to compatriots in front of the palace. To the left of the palace there is the dome of the Verkhovna Rada (Ukrianian Parliament). We advise you to go the observation deck: a great view of the city opens from that spot. And if you go further, you will see Valeriy Lobanovskyi Dynamo Stadium. Right after Mariinsky Park you get to the City Park, where you can find bridge of love, which leads you to Khreshchatyi Park, and then – Museum of Water, Puppet Theatre and monument to “Eternal Love”.
Kyiv Pechersk Lavra is one of the most visited sights of Kiev. This is a popular pilgrimage destination, a great attraction for many tourists.
